Phyllis L. Spiese

YORK – Phyllis L. (Livingston) Spiese, 97, formerly of Mount Wolf, passed away, Monday, February 6, 2023, at UPMC Memorial Hospital, in York.  She was a resident of Normandie Ridge Retirement community. She was the wife of the late Jack D. Spiese, Sr. who passed away on January 14, 2009, after 64 years of marriage.

Mrs. Spiese was born February 2, 1926, in Mount Wolf and was the daughter of the late Mathias C. and Laura E. (Hackney) Livingston. 

She graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester. She was employed for over 20 years with Harley Davidson before retiring in 1992 after many years of valuable service. Phyllis was a devoted Christian and enjoyed reading her bible each morning.  Mrs. Spiese enjoyed painting and won numerous blue ribbons at the York Fair.  She loved her family and friends and always enjoyed their visits.

Mrs. Spiese is survived by her sons, Jack D. Spiese, Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, of Parkton, MD, Timothy S. Spiese and his wife, Carol Ann, of Dover, DE, and Joel D. Spiese of York, PA, and is survived by numerous loving relatives and friends.   She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Biesecker and Annis Krout, and seven brothers, Jesse, Ezra, Paul, David, James, Carl and Glenn Livingston.

Services and burial for Mrs. Spiese will be private. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery in Manchester. Officiating at her service will be Reverend David Brinker.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
