Ralph R. Lower

YORK- Ralph R. Lower, 79, of York, passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the husband of Joyce E. (Spangler) Lower whom he married ­­­­51 years ago on June 28, 1974. 

Ralph was born August 12, 1946, in Sunbury, PA and was the son of the late James R. and Effie Mae (Drumheller) Lower.

He was employed for 27 years with Hempt Brothers as a heavy equipment operator, and for 17 years with the Springettesbury Township. He was a member of the Union County Sportsman's Club, Izaak Walton League of America, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended LCBC Church in East York and served as part of their security team. Ralph served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, Joyce, Ralph is survived by his children, William J. Lower and his wife Tabitha of Dover, Stefanieana Hersh and her husband James A. of Spring Grove, Marion Lower of York, and Richard S.; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his brother James R. Lower.

His funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center,  87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  His burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Officiating at his service will be Ally Arnold.
