MOUNT WOLF – Ray E. Hoover, 81, of Mount Wolf, East Manchester Township, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at York Hospital.  He was the husband of Donna (Heindel) Hoover who he married 54 years ago on May 29, 1966.

Ray was born October 21, 1939 in East Manchester Township and was the son of the late Elwood and Creda (Kann) Hoover.

He attended Northeastern High School until 10th grade and graduated in 1957 from Dover High School in Dover from the FFA program.  He was employed for 25 years with York Container Company before retiring in 1984.  He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed raising cattle.  He was a member of the Starview United Church of Christ in (Starview), Mount Wolf.  He was a member of the Hoover’s Cemetery Board from 1980 to his passing and Starview Sportsmen’s Club.  Ray proudly served his county in the United States Army from 1962-1965 where he was privileged to travel to Switzerland, Holland, France and Germany.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Ray is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Ann (Hoover) Weir and her husband Mark of Mount Wolf, and Connie Debra (Hoover) Eckenrode and her husband Roland of Mount Wolf and 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Weir and Elizabeth Weir.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shelby Eckenrode and his brother, Dale Hoover.

A memorial service for Ray will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 North Sherman Street, Extd., Mount Wolf.  A graveside service for Ray will begin at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Hoover’s Cemetery .  Officiating at his service will be his pastor Reverend Laura Bair.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
