Raymond J. “Skip” Shubert
YORK NEW SALEM – Raymond J. “Skip” Shubert, 94, of York New Salem, passed away, Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Annabel M. (Rohrbaugh) Shubert who passed away January 12, 2015.
Skip was born August 21, 1928, in Drifting, PA and was the son of the late Joseph R. and Alice M. (Redinger) Shubert.
Skip proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Teledyne-McKay in York and Abbottstown Industries in Abbottstown. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Shiloh American Legion, Post # 791, St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church in York New Salem and Tele-Kay Camping Club.
Skip is survived by his sons, Steven Shubert and his wife Linda of Severn, MD and Joseph Shubert and his wife Shelly of York New Salem, PA; his daughters, Julianne Heath and her husband Roger of Etters and Amy Meyer and her husband Scott of York; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and his sisters, Ruth Erickson of Lewes, DE and Geraldine Buckel of York. He was preceded in death by a sister and 2 brothers.
His service will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Jacob’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 East George Street, York New Salem. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Monday, at the church. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Officiating at the service will be his pastor Reverend Lisa Hair. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the graveside service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
