Richard S. Brothers, Sr.

YORK – Richard S. Brothers, Sr., 80, of York, passed away, Monday, March 27, 2023, in York Hospital.  He was the husband of Sheila (Gundy) Brothers who he married 61 years ago on August 25, 1961.

Richard was born September 3, 1942, in York and was the son of the late Charles, Jr., and Edna (Shue) Brothers.

He was a self-employed farmer for many years and also owned and operated a Lawn and Landscaping business in the York area.  He was a member of the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, Inc. of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Early American Steam Society Steam-O-Rama in Windsor, PA.  He collected and restored John Deere Tractors for many years.  He attended New Creation Community Church in Dover, PA.

In addition to his wife, Sheila, Richard is survived by his sons, Michael Brothers and his wife, Sherry of Manchester, Richard Brothers, Jr, and his wife Patti Collins of Strinestown; his daughter, Jodi Holtzman and her boyfriend, Lee Hunnell of York; two grandchildren, Jacob Brothers and Brooke Holtzman; two great grandchildren, Adelyn Brothers, and Dominic Collins and his brother, Tom Brothers of Manchester.

Funeral services for Richard will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00, Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.  Officiating at his service will be Pastor Kurt Herzberg.
