Richard C. Knisely

YORK – Richard C. Knisely, 94, of York, went home to be with Jesus, his Savior, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Dallastown Nursing Center in Dallastown.   He was the husband of the late Patty L. (Chapple) Knisely who passed away on July 28, 2021.

Richard was born April 28, 1928, in Bedford County, PA and was the son of the late Willard E. and Mary (St. Clair) Knisely.

He graduated in 1946 from Orbisonia High School in Huntingdon County.  Richard was employed by Maple Press and later retired from Preston Trucking Company as a truck driver.  He was a member of the Teamsters #430 of York and Mount Washington United Brethren Church and recently had attended Bible Baptist Church. 

Richard had a heart for those who were struggling in life, whether with hunger, poverty, or disability.

He is survived by his son, Dan Knisely, and his wife Peggy of York; his daughter, Connie Sanders, and her husband Randy of York; a grandson, Ryan Sanders, and granddaughters, Rebecca Coy, Shelly Schmalhofer, and Rachel Stephens; Thirteen great grandchildren, and his sister, Madeline Cornelius of Chambersburg.  Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Knisely; his brothers, Bruce Knisely and Fred Knisely and his sisters, Martha Kelly, Joanne Price, and Helen Kyler.

His funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Quickel Cemetery.  Officiating will be Thomas Irwin.
