Richard L. Roelke, Jr.
MANCHESTER – Richard Leroy Roelke, Jr., 80 of Manchester, PA passed away, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at his home in Manchester. He was the husband of Christine D. (Schafer) Roelke whom he married 58 years ago on February 11, 1967.
Richard was born July 22, 1945, in York and was the son of the late Richard Leroy Roelke, Sr. and Gladys Irene (Hess) Roelke.
He graduated in 1963 from Northern Senior High School in Dillsburg, PA and later from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA. He was employed by American Hydro in York for over 30 years before retiring in 2024. He was a former member of Strinestown United Brethren Church in Strinestown. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later served in the United States Navy Reserves.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his two sons, Richard L. Roelke, III of East York, PA, and Samuel J. Roelke of Manchester, PA: his daughter, Alice M. Roelke of Dover, PA, his brothers, Bill Goodyear and Albert Goodyear, and his sisters, Lana Falcone, Linda Roelke, Marilyn Goodyear. He was preceded in death by his daughter, April Paula Roelke.
His funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. His viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. His burial will be in Strinestown Cemetery. Officiating at his service will be Pastor Steven Livermore.
