Roy L. Hake

DOVER - Roy Larry Hake, 83, of Dover, passed away at 1:31 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home in Dover.  He was the husband of Betty Jane (Adams) Hake who he married 64 years ago on September 14, 1956.

Roy was born January 12, 1938 in York and was the son of the late Roy and Reba (Bell) Hake.

He attended Manchester High School in Manchester.  He was employed by Caterpillar in York for 30 years before retiring in 1994.  Roy was a member of the Hawks Gunning Club, Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and Pathway Community Church in West York. 

In addition to his wife, Betty, Roy is survived by his sons, Douglas A. Hake of Dover and Gary L. Hake of Manchester; 3 grandchildren, Mandy Smith and her husband Aaron, Amy Bates and her husband Bryan and Gary Hake, II and his wife, Shawna; 4 great grandchildren, Nora Bates, Lyla Smith, Bennett Smith and Eva Hake and 2 on the way; his brothers, Randy Hake of Strinestown and Mike Hake of York; his sisters, Jesse Landis of Manchester, Linda Markley of York, Phyllis Toomey of York Haven, Diane Berkheimer of Erie, PA. and Bonnie Rexroth of Windsor.  Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Hake and Harold Hake. 

His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Pathway Community Church, 1731 West Philadelphia Street, York, PA.   Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.  Officiating at the service will be his pastor Reverend Jim Dinger. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
