MANCHESTER – Ruth A. (Toomey) Laughman, 85, of Manchester, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Providence Place in Dover.  She was married for 48 years to the late Quay L. Laughman who passed away January 23, 2002.

Ruth was born September 21, 1937, in York and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Florence (Deardorff) Toomey.

She was a lifelong beautician starting her career with her mother at her beauty shop in York Haven.  She also was a beautician at Normandie Ridge in York, a manager of the Hair Salon at J.C. Penney’s and was a cosmetology instructor at York County Vo-Tech adult education program.  She was a member of Susquehanna Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, both in York Haven.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Marcia Halbert and her husband, Bob of York, Alena King of York, PA and Donna Ellis and her husband Ron of Manchester; her son, Daniel Laughman and his wife, Shelley of Mount Wolf; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Toomey and her son-in-law, Jack King.

Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 13, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Her viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.  Officiating at the service will be Reverend Gary Zortman
