Ruth M. Zeigler

MANCHESTER – Ruth M. (Urey) Zeigler, 87, of Manchester, passed away, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rodney G. Zeigler, Sr. who passed away August 14, 2018.

Mrs. Zeigler was born September 10, 1934, in York and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Eva (Reichard) Urey.

She worked for Georgia Pacific in Mount Wolf before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf.

Mrs. Zeigler is survived by her sons, Rodney Zeigler, Jr. and his girlfriend, Sherrie of York, Kevin Zeigler and his wife Kim of Spring Grove, and Ivan Heikes of York; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; sister in laws, Yvonne Urey, Gloria Urey, and Helen Stein; many nieces, and nephews and her loving granddog Brutus. Mrs. Zeigler’s granddaughter, Samantha “Sam” was devoted to her grandmother and shared many evenings and dinners at her home several days during the week. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Carrie, Eva, Lucille and Miriam and her brothers, George, Ralph, Harry, Walter, Clyde, and Charles.

Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery in Manchester. Officiating at the service will be Reverend Philip Nace.
