Stephan Noonan Obituary

In Loving Memory of Stephan Michael Noonan, Sr.
July 7, 1951 – April 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Stephan “Steve” Michael Noonan, Sr., who left this world on April 16, 2025, at his home in York, PA. Born on July 7, 1951, in Columbia, PA, Steve was the beloved son of the late Charles and Henrietta (Williams) Noonan.

A proud graduate of Central York High School’s Class of 1969, Steve went on to serve his country with dedication in the United States Navy (Seabees) from 1973 to 1977 and in the Naval Reserves from 1982 to 1983. His passion for engineering led him to Temple University, where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering in 1985, later retiring from Nutec Facilities in 2020.

Above all, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared his life with his cherished wife, Brenda (Heilman), and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. He will be deeply missed by his children, Paula Scherer, Stephan Noonan Jr., and William “Mac” Noonan, along with his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Noonan. His greatest joy was his grandchildren—Amber, Leah, Asa, Arabella, and the soon-to-arrive twins, Finn and Freya—as well as his great-grandchildren, Eli and Hattie. Steve’s life was further enriched by the love of his siblings: Gail Henshaw, Linda Sauter, Charles Noonan, Sally Morales, William Noonan, Wendy Noonan Irvine, and Tracy Miller.

Steve’s booming voice, infectious laughter, and endless humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Whether on family vacations to Hatteras Island, camping at Ricketts Glen State Park, or sharing stories around the campfire, he created cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

A pillar of his community, Steve devoted countless hours to his sons’ Scouting journeys, proudly serving as Cub Master of Troop 25 for seven years and volunteering for Troop 25. He made a lasting impact as a baseball coach for Springett’s Youth Baseball and was an active member of the Hawk Gunning Club.

His visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.

In honor of Steve’s unwavering commitment to service and community, those who wish to express their sympathy may consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Steve’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and generosity. Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
