Steven W. Schaeffer

MANCHESTER – Steven “Steve” William Schaeffer, 63, of Manchester, passed away, Saturday, February 12, 2022, at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York.

Steve was born October 25, 1958, in Lebanon and was the son of William Schaeffer of Mount Wolf and the late Joyce (Tarrach) Schaeffer.

He graduated in 1977 from Northeastern High School in Manchester.  He was employed by Wellspan, York Hospital, before retiring.  Previously he was employed for 17 years as a Supervisor Dispatcher with the former Consolidated Freightways in York prior to their closing.  He was a former member of the Hawks Club, Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 and a former member and board member of the Wago Club in Mount Wolf.  He was a member of Starview United Church of Christ in (Starview) Mount Wolf.

In addition to his father, William, Steve is survived by his son, Eric Schaeffer of Harrisburg; his daughter, Laura Mummert and her husband Jeffrey of York; one grandson, Mitchell; his brothers, William Schaeffer of York, Richard Schaeffer of York and James Schaeffer of Manchester and his former wife and friend Claudia Schaeffer.

A celebration of life service for Steve will begin at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial will be private.  Officiating at the service will be his pastor Reverend Laura Bair.
