SUE ANN ZITNICK

Sue Ann Zitnick age 75 of Conewago Township passed away from cancer on Monday May 2, 2022, at home. Sue was the wife of Charles (Chuck) L Zitnick Jr to whom she was married for almost 54 years. She was born in northeastern New Jersey to parents Donald and Eleanor (Judson) Castleman. Sue came from a loving family living in a rural area of New Jersey. She graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA in 1968 with a BA degree. After graduating, Sue traveled to Babenhausen, Germany to marry her loving husband in a unique combination of German civil and military marriage ceremonies. They raised a family of three successful children while living near York, PA on a colonial farmstead. Sue’s career was family, volunteering with local charities, working on the farm property, and caring for others in the community. She was a skilled quilt maker and gardener. She was a caregiver for the couple who previously owned the farm for over 8 years. In over 40 years of membership in the York Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) she participated or led activities to advocate for women's workplace, pay equity and education issues. In 2022, she was recognized as the AAUW-PA Special Honoree. She enjoyed helping the York Chapter of the American Red Cross through over 20 years of volunteer administrative work.

Sue is survived by her husband Chuck, three children, Karen, Larry and wife Krista, and Dana and partner Robin. She had four grandchildren Charlie, Nora, Sebastian, and Lachlan. Also included are surviving siblings John and wife Kathy, Patricia, and James and wife Coleen.
