Susan Kay Fringer
YORK – Susan Kay (Metzel) Fringer, 77, of York, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home in York. She was the wife of the late Herbert J. Fringer who passed away April 3, 2015.
Susan was born July 5, 1946, in York and was the daughter of the late C. Kenneth Metzel and Catherine R. (Billet) Metzel.
She graduated in 1964 from Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester. Sue worked for AMP, Inc., The Maple Press Company, Record Club of America, and the Glatfelter Insurance Group, from which she retired in 2012 after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Pink Partners, the Ladies Auxiliary of Kreutz Creek Valley V.F.W. Post 7045 in Hellam, PA, Dallastown American Legion Auxiliary, Post #605, and Quickel Lutheran Church in York.
She volunteered with the American Cancer Society, York County Parks and Rec, York County SPCA, PINK Can Am, and Senior Games. Sue was affectionately referred to as “Turbo”. She was always on the go volunteering, exercise classes, happy hours, and Parcheesi nights.
Susan leaves many family and friends to cherish her memory. A son, Randall E. (Dana) Abenshon of Mount Wolf, daughter, Kristal A. Abenshon of York, granddaughter, Alexandria N. Abenshon (Jaime) of Richmond Hill, NY, grandson, Ian R. Abenshon (Jess) of York, and a brother, Jack D. Metzel of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her brother, C. Kenneth (Butch) Metzel.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at a future date. Her burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery which will be private. Officiating at her service will be Reverend Roy Stetler from Quickel Lutheran Church of York. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
