William “Bill” R. Heilman

EMIGSVILLE – William “Bill” R. Heilman, 90, of Emigsville, passed away, Sunday, July 9, 2023, at York Hospital.  He was the husband of June (Dawson) Heilman who he married 70 years ago on February 14, 1952.

Bill was born November 13, 1932, in York and he was the son of the late William H. and Fairy (Beard) Heilman.

He was a truck driver for Yankee Lines, Mason Dixon, and Preston all from York.  He was a former member of the Wago Club, and Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf.  He was a life member of the Hawks Club, and the 13th Ward.  Bill was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Oriole’s, while having an ice-cold Schmidt’s beer.

Family was very important to Bill, and he loved spending time with them, he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his four daughters, Sherry Mortorff and her husband Leroy of York, Susan Smith and her husband David of Mount Wolf, Brenda Noonan and her husband Stephan, Sr., of York and Lisa Giuffrida and her husband Mark of Mount Wolf; seven grandchildren, William, Jaime, Jason, Joseph, Stephan, Jr., Nicholas, and Mac; eight great grandchildren, Evelyn, Bennet, Joni, Asa, Isaac, Leoluca, Vivian, and Lorenzo; his brother, Wayne Heilman of York Haven, and his sisters, Virginia Witmer of York, and Mary Shearer of Manchester.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde, Leroy, and Glenn, and his sisters, Beatrice Tresselt and Ruth Kann.

Bill’s visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  His funeral service and burial will be private.
