Flo E. LaPrairie

YORK HAVEN – Flo E. (Gentzler) LaPrairie, 107, of York Haven, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at her home. She was the wife of the late Leon C. “Fred” LaPrairie who died on September 3, 1982. They were married in 1934 for 48 years.

Mrs. LaPrairie was born December 12, 1911 in Stoverstown and was the daughter of the late Robert and Orpha (Bankert) Gentzler.

She worked for the former Barnes Wallpaper Company in York before becoming a homemaker to her loving family. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoverstown and the Susquehanna Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in York Haven.

Mrs. LaPrairie is survived by her daughter, Todette “Toddy” LaPrairie Holt of New Cumberland, PA; her grandsons, Michel Sheffer and his wife Tanya, and Jason Holt, and his wife Kristin and her great grandsons Jonas Holt and Justin Holt. Mrs. LaPrairie was preceded in death by her infant son; her daughter, Nadine Sheffer; her sisters, Ethel Miller and Pauline Slagle, and her brothers, Arthur Gentzler, Richard Gentzler and Donald Gentzler.

Her celebration of life service will begin at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 7, 2019, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Paddletown Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Reverend Brad Dayett from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoverstown.

  2. What a wonderful life. She was 107 years old, lived at home and she and Toddy sent her Minnesota family a care package (home made cookies) every holiday including this year.
