The possibilities are endless. You personalize your service to represent your family member. We make ourselves available to assist and guide you in making choices and decisions that will assure you a perfect funeral service for your family member.

Caskets

Caskets are manufactured in various types of materials. Examples of the different types are bronze, copper, stainless steel, wood and steel. Families would make a choice based on eye appeal or perhaps the material used might represent something in the life of the individual. By this I mean you might choose a steel casket because your loved one may have worked with steel during their lifetime or wood because they were a wood worker. Whatever the reason, you should be comfortable with your choice and it should represent your family and your loved one.

The interiors of the caskets may be personalized also. Some of the casket interiors are standard and cannot be changed; however, there are a few companies that will customize interiors. You may customize an interior by changing the color, style, or by having a theme embroider into the casket fabric. The theme could be a garden scene, hunting scene, or perhaps a military branch logo. You may also wish to consider engraving the name and dates of your loved one on the outside of the casket.

The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center has a large selection of caskets for you to choose from in their private casket display room. With approximately 20 full size caskets to choose from and the availability of customizing most of the caskets, we are proud to say that you have close to 70 or more choices to select from. We pride ourselves in the fact that we would like to give you every option to be able to create just the right casket that is befitting of your loved one.

Urns

Urns are manufactured in various types of materials. Examples, but not limited to, are cast bronze, sheet bronze, wood, marble, stainless steel and bio-degradable. Some of the urns are of a very simple design while others are works of art that could be displayed in your home. The detail and design of many of the urns are so beautiful that friends and relatives wouldn’t know that it holds the cremated cremains of your loved one. Choosing an urn is a personal choice. Your selection should represent your style or perhaps it could be an expression of your life lived.

The urn is a vessel in which the cremated cremains are held securely until they meet their final disposition. Most cemeteries require an urn vault for earth burial when burying the urn. The reason for this requirement is to support the earth around the urn. Urns are not designed to support the earth or the heavy earth moving equipment that travels from grave to grave. You may also like to place your urn in a niche inside a columbarium. A columbarium is a building which holds cremated cremains above ground. Scattering is another choice of final disposition for the cremains. However, I would caution everyone to take a great deal of time in considering this form of final disposition because it is very permanent. Once you scatter the cremains they are not recoverable.

The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center has a large private selection room of cremation products. Everything from cremation caskets, urns, urn vaults, keepsakes to jewelry fills this selection room for your personal choice. Most urns may be engraved with name, dates and a theme picture. Some urns you may even place a picture of your loved one. We pride ourselves in the fact that we give you a large selection of products to make it easy for you to create a meaningful celebration that is befitting of your loved one.

Vaults

The Diehl Funeral Home and Cremation Center would like to educate individuals on the requirements of vaults and grave liners for burial of loved ones in your family cemetery.

Vaults and Grave liners are not a State, Federal or Local requirement. They are the requirement of the individual cemetery. Cemeteries require a minimum of a grave liner for each burial whether you are burying a loved one in a casket or an urn. The reason for a vault or grave liner is to support the earth around the casket or urn. Caskets and urns are not designed to support the earth around a casket. They also are not designed for the transportation of the earth moving equipment from grave to grave. The cemetery would like to maintain the level of the earth in the cemetery for maintenance purposes during the mowing season and also when family members are searching for the grave of a loved one.

The difference between a vault and a grave liner is that a vault seals and grave liners do not. Grave liners have exit holes in the bottom for the water to drain away. Vaults are manufactured in various different types of materials. Materials used are concrete; precious metal, metal and fiberglass. The Diehl Funeral Home predominantly offers concrete vaults with and without liners. The less expensive vaults do not have liners. Vaults with liners are manufactured from fiberglass; plastic; stainless steel; copper and bronze.
