MOUNT WOLF – Robert L. Bloss, 95, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 1:24 AM, Monday, September 4, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Leona (Nace) Bloss whom he was married to for 70 years before her passing July 25, 2014.
Robert was born June 19, 1922 in Mount Wolf and was the son of the late Walter and Treva (Amspacher) Bloss.
He was employed by American Wire Fabrics in Mount Wolf, Helig Brothers in York and St. Regis/Georgia Pacific in Mount Wolf. He was a member of the Northeastern Senior Center; Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493, and Eagle Fire Company for over 70 years all of Mount Wolf. He was a blood and platelet donor of over 140 at York Hospital. He retired after 70 years as a Firefighter and Fire Police with Eagle Fire Company. He was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Wolf. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Becker and her husband Neal of York; 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Lee Bloss; brothers, Russell, John and James, and his sister, Elizabeth.
His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 8, 2017 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewings will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home and Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Jason Northridge. Military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
